Martinique
5-0 Montserrat
Hey, that’s not so bad at all! Only a 5-0 defeat to Martinique is not a bad
showing at all for our intrepid islanders from Montserrat, who made several
changes to the team from the first match two days ago. Bearing in mind that British Virgin Islands
were beaten 16-0 by the same opponents this performance offers real hope for
Montserrat’s final group match against BVI.
Can it really be hoped that defeat will be avoided, or whisper it
quietly, even a win?
Kevin Parsemain added to his six goals against BVI with four
more against Montserrat, adding to one from Steeve Gustan. Three goals in the first twenty minutes left
us fearing the worst, but Montserrat held out until the hour mark when two more
were added in quick succession, but no more after that.
So a defeat, but real encouragement ahead of the final group
match.

The other group match saw Suriname beat the British Virgin
Islands 4-0 setting up a table topping clash between Suriname and Martinique in
the group decider. Far more importantly
for us, it also sets up a clash between Montserrat and BVI for last place.

3. Montserrat 2 -11 0
